THALOS, technology partner of the MABIMOUV project for innovative environmental monitoring at sea
THALOS is proud to announce its participation in the MABIMOUV project (MArine BIomass Megafauna mOnitoring Unmanned Vehicle), one of five environmental initiatives supported by the GIS EMYN.
This project is fully aligned with our commitment to technological innovation in support of the energy transition and the protection of marine ecosystems.
A zero-emission surface drone to monitor the marine environment
MABIMOUV aims to develop a fully electric, autonomous surface drone. This unmanned vehicle will be equipped with advanced sensors to monitor water quality, biomass, megafauna, and underwater noise.
The goal is to better understand the interactions between human activities and natural ecosystems, particularly in the context of offshore wind farm development.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with leading partners: RBR, the Laboratory of Information and Systems (LIS), and the Lab-STICC at Université Bretagne Sud.
Field testing is scheduled for spring 2026 at the future offshore wind farm site near the Îles d’Yeu and Noirmoutier.
Reliable and secure maritime connectivity
In this project, THALOS is responsible for ensuring connectivity between all deployed systems at sea.
We provide a complete solution in the form of a rugged case integrating an OceanBox and a Starlink antenna.
This setup ensures a continuous, reliable, and secure satellite connection, which is essential for the real-time transmission of environmental data.
Thanks to this infrastructure, data collected by the drone and onboard sensors is continuously transmitted to onshore teams. This enables accurate and uninterrupted scientific monitoring, which is critical to the project’s success.
